Daoism continues to inspire our members
to apply what they have learned to make change
in their home and communities

By providing practical ways to foster inner peace and peaceful relations with others and nature, Tai He Dao members are finding new ways to come together for the benefit of others in their home communities all over the United States and the world.

Below are just a few stories that express how changes made from within through Daoist practicies can be incredibly enriching and life-changing in surprising and powerful ways.

The Qi of Poetry

Dr. David B. Axelrod

I first read “The Way and its Power” (Dao De Ching) as a teen. I was so inspired, I took formal college-level courses in Oriental Philosophy, and have taken hundreds of training sessions since.

I began working with Wu Dang Chen in 1991 and joined the Advisory Board of Tai He Dao in 2014. As a result of practicing his teachings, I have enjoyed a lifetime of benefits. For me, balancing my Chi is the thing that makes me feel alive and well. It is Chi that rises in me when I do my creative writing and poetry. I imagine it moving like an electrical current up my back and across my shoulders, down my arms, activating my hands and fingers when I write or type my words, as I've written about it here.

Inspired by the work of Wu Dang Chen, I founded the Creative Happiness Institute (CHI) in Daytona Beach, Florida in 2009 when I retired after 55 years as an educator, professional author and poet. The Institute provides life planning, academic and career advice, tutoring and educational services, writing and poetry workshops, lectures and performances that are open and inviting to the public of all ages and backgrounds.
